Phase 1 · Day 1
Start with a diagnostic

- Schedule as soon as you can — ASWB says candidates have the best chance of getting their preferred location, date, and time when they schedule four to six weeks before the preferred date.
Phase 2 · Weeks 1–3
Master the reasoning pattern
- ASWB questions reward a consistent hierarchy: safety first, then assessment before intervention.
- Study ethics deeply — Values and Ethics is the largest content area at 35%, and ethics reasoning appears across the whole exam.
- Practice identifying what the question is really asking: FIRST, BEST, MOST likely each demand different reasoning.
Phase 3 · Weeks 4–6
Scenario practice at volume
- Work mixed scenario questions daily and write down the principle behind every miss.
- Drill the 'acknowledge, assess, act' sequence until it is automatic.
- Practice at the current average pace: about 1 minute 58 seconds per presented question within each 61-question section.
Phase 4 · Final week
Final calibration
- Take one full-length timed set; review only the questions you missed.
- Re-read your personal error log — not the whole curriculum.
- Plan test-day logistics so the only new thing that day is the exam itself.
